In the 1940s, there were only 40 Amur tigers left due to poaching. Russia became the first country to put full protection on the tiger. Their population raised to 500 by the 1980s and has been stable since, even in spite of increased poaching(1).This is thanks to work done by the WWF, WSC, along with many others. Learn more:
